What if?
... the Romans hadn't come to Britain

When the Romans invaded Britain in AD 43, they already had a history going back 500 years. They came from central Italy, and their capital city Rome was the biggest city in the world. Most people in Britain at the time were still farmers, living in wooden huts in small towns and villages.

The Romans quickly conquered Britain, and built their own towns and roads. Although this wasn't very popular with the British at first, the Romans brought many useful ideas and inventions with them that greatly improved people's lives. In fact, even now we still use many of the things that the Roman's introduced to Britain.

To find out what they are, play our game 'What if the Romans hadn't come to Britain?'
