What is scree?
|
The sides of some mountains are covered in pieces of broken rock, called 'scree'. Scree forms as a result of frost. When water that has gathered in cracks in the rocks freezes, it expands. The force of expansion is so great that it can split rocks apart into smaller and smaller pieces. | Solid rock can be split by water freezing and expanding in the cracks of the rock |
