How do we get power from flowing water?
|
Since ancient Egyptian times, water wheels that turn in a river's current have been used to drive mills. The same principle is used to make electricity. Water is released from a dam, and as it falls, its energy is used to turn a set of turbines, each of which drives an electrical generator. | Electricity is generated in hydroelectric power plants. |
