What was the religion of ancient Egypt?
|
The Egyptians were very religious people and they had about 2,000 gods and goddesses, although not all of them were worshiped all over the country. There were gods of nature, such as water or air; and gods who looked after daily life, like farming or fishing. Some gods were fierce, while others were gentle. The most important were Re, the Sun God; Isis, the fertility goddess; and Osiris, ruler of the Underworld. | Many of the gods and goddesses were depicted with the heads of animals and birds. |
