What did an Iron Age hill fort look like?
|
An Iron Age hill fort was surrounded by up to four or five lines of banks and ditches. First a bank was built, then a ditch, and then a steep slope, which the attackers would have to cross to reach the fort. | Cadbury Castle in Britain was an Iron Age hill fort. It became one of the largest, strongest forts in Britain. |
