What is Uluru?
|
Uluru is the Aborigines's name for Ayers Rock, which is one of the largest monoliths, or free-standing blocks of rock, in the world. It lies in Australia's Northern Territory, rising 348 metres above the surrounding plain. There are Aboriginal paintings in the caves at its base, and the site is sacred to the Aborigines.
