How do you get ink from an octopus? An octopus has eight legs, covered in suckers, with which it can capture crabs and small fish. The octopus itself, however, may be threatened by a larger fish. To help it escape from danger, it has the ability to squeeze its body into the smallest crevices in the rock. In extreme situations, it can produce a cloud of black ink to cover its escape.
