How does a nuclear power station make electricity?

Immense heat is generated by the nuclear reaction that takes place inside the reactor core. This makes pressurised water extremely hot. The water passes to a steam generator, where the heat is used to boil more water to make steam. The steam spins the blades of a turbine, generating electricity.
