How is paper made? Most paper is made from wood that has been ground into a pulp or treated chemically. Sometimes torn-up rags are added. A creamy pulp, consisting of fibres and water, passes on to a warmish belt. The water drains through the mesh, sometimes aided by suction from below. The matted web of fibres is then squeezed between rollers, some of which are heated. The dried paper is finally wound on to large reels.
