What kind of engines do modern ships have?
|
Most modern ships have slow-running diesel engines, with one engine per propeller. Large vessels have steam turbine engines, often with oil-burning boilers to produce the steam. Nuclear-powered ships also have steam turbines, but use a nuclear reactor to provide the heat for making steam.
