How are submersibles controlled?
|
Manned submersibles are controlled by their crew. Unmanned craft, controlled from a surface vessel, are used to investigate wrecks and pipelines. They are lowered on cables, and are equipped with sound-detection equipment, lights, and television cameras for recording the sea bed. Some are fitted with mechanical robot arms that can pick up objects. | Submersibles are used to examine shipwrecks and faulty underwater pipelines and cables. |
