What was the Parthenon?
The Parthenon was a temple in Athens that honoured the Greek goddess Athena. It was built between 447 BC and 432 BC on a hill called the Acropolis, above the city. The temple had 46 pillars, and was made of white marble. Its ruins still stand today.
