Why do animals defend their territory?
|
Not all animals have territories, but many do. If food is limited, the animal may defend a territory to guard its food supply. With other species, such as cassowaries, the males fight over a territory in which to nest and rear their young. Territorial animals know exactly where the boundaries of their own territory lie.
