When did our ancestors evolve?

Our line of evolution split off from apelike Ramapithecusabout 12 million years ago. Australopithecus was our first ancestor. It lived 5 million years ago. Then came Homo habilis 2 million years ago, then Homo erectus 1.6 million years ago. The first modern humans (Homo sapiens) appeared 400,000 years ago.
