When was the first locomotive invented?

On February 21, 1804, Richard Trevithick demonstrated his latest invention at the Penydarren mining railway in Wales. It was the world's first railway locomotive. It made a journey of 16 kilometres in four hours, pulling ten tonnes of iron on which 70 men sat.
