A tractor-trailer is one that consists of two separate parts. At the front is the part called the tractor unit, which contains the diesel engine, the controls, the fuel tank, and the driver's cab. It has very powerful brakes and some have more than 20 gears. The tractor unit pulls the part called the trailer, which carries the cargo.
