Who built the first steam railway locomotive?
|
In 1804, Richard Trevithick built the first successful steam engine to run on rails. It hauled trucks of coal along a tramway in South Wales, UK. Trevithick later built a locomotive called ‘Catch me who can’, which travelled at speeds of up to 16 kph.
