Where do volcanoes happen most?
A great deal of energy is produced where the Earth's surface plates are being created and destroyed. In these areas, molten material may erupt from the Earth's interior in volcanoes. There are so many around the Pacific Ocean that it is called the 'ring of fire'.
Most of the world's active volcanoes and earthquake zones are found along the edges of the Earth's plates.
