What is a Maglev train?
Maglev trains are the trains of the future. They have no wheels. Instead, they use the principle of magnetic levitation to raise them off the track. With friction almost eliminated, they can be propelled forward at speeds of up to 250 mph (400 kph). Prototypes have already been built in Germany and Japan. In the future it is anticipated that they will reach speeds of up to 500 mph (800 kph).
In 1996 a Maglev train opened at Disney World in Florida.
