When was the ancient Egyptian civilisation?
Originally, ancient Egypt was divided into two areas: Upper Egypt and Lower Egypt. The history of ancient Egypt begins when these two areas were united in about 3100 B.C. under one king, and lasts for nearly 3,000 years. Historians divide this long period into three main parts: the Old Kingdom, the Middle Kingdom and the New Kingdom.
