Who was Herodotus?
Herodotus was the world's first true historian. He was born about 484 BC at Halicarnassus, and is most famous for his account of the Persian Wars. He travelled widely around the Mediterranean, the Black Sea, Egypt, and the Middle East, collecting information for his book, which has many anecdotes about the peoples involved in the wars.
