Did art play an important part in Roman life? The house of a wealthy Roman would have been elaborately decorated with wall paintings. Some copied famous Greek paintings; others portrayed the gods and goddesses of love. It would have been filled with silver, pottery, and glass ornaments, and furniture of marble or bronze.
