Where were the Bible lands?
Modern Israel occupies the land called Palestine in the New Testament of the Bible. To the east lay the ancient cities of Ur and Babylon in an area then known as Mesopotamia, roughly where the modern country of Iraq is now. Farther west lay Egypt, which was mentioned early in the Bible, and to the north lay Assyria.
