Who were the Assyrians?
|
The Assyrians were some of the fiercest fighters of Biblical times. In the 9th century BC they began to expand their territory beyond their homeland in the valley of the Tigris River, and for the next 200 years they fought relentless battles against Syria, Phoenicia, Israel, and Judah. They built large, strong-walled cities. | The Assyrians attacked their enemies's cities with battering rams. |
