Did early North and South Americans write?
Most early Americans did not write using letters, but Native Americans of North America and the Maya and Aztecs of Central America used a form of picture-writing, called 'glyphs'. The Incas of Peru, in South America, tied knots in lengths of string called 'quipu' to make messages.
