Why was understanding perspective important?
|
Perspective is a method of representing objects on a two-dimensional surface so that they appear three-dimensional. Once artists had grasped the rules of perspective, it was possible for them to reproduce accurately landscapes and buildings. Many Renaissance artists wanted to convey the perfection of God by portraying the perfect proportions of a building or the human form.
