Where do Muslims pray?
Muslims usually pray in holy buildings called mosques. They pray facing toward Mecca. The largest mosques have an open court surrounded by covered arches, and a well or fountain in the middle to provide water for washing before prayer. They also have a tower called a minaret, from which the people are called to prayer five times a day.
The mosque stands in a courtyard where pupils are taught the Koran. Near the entrance is a minaret.
