What do Islamic designs look like?
The larger mosques are often decorated on the outside with elaborate designs that do not include people or animals. The intricate intertwining leaves, flowers, and geometrical designs are described as arabesques. Passages from the Koran are often written around the walls of mosques too, painted on brightly coloured ceramic tiles.
Islamic designs are made up of beautiful swirling patterns, colours, and lines.
