What fighting methods were used in the First World War?
Fast fighter planes like the Sopwith Camel were invented; these attacked enemy planes using machine guns, which could fire hundreds of bullets a minute. Battles in the air were known as dogfights. Tanks armed with guns were also used for the first time. Soldiers on land fought with rifles fixed with bayonets.
