What is the Great Rift Valley?
The Great Rift Valley is a huge depression that runs thousands of miles from the Red Sea to Mozambique. It is made from a series of faults in the earth's crust, caused by earthquakes. Parts of the rift valley have become deep lakes, such as Lake Malawi.
