Where is there snow near the equator?

Two snow-capped African mountains lie near the equator. Mount Kenya rises to 5,199 metres in Kenya. It is also called Kirinyaga, or 'mountain of whiteness'. At 5,895 metres, Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania is Africa's highest mountain.
