What was the Forum in ancient Rome?
The Forum was an open public square in the middle of the ancient city of Rome. It was originally a market place, and then became the centre of public business. Roman orators came to make speeches, and citizens gathered there to discuss the important questions of the day. It was also used for imperial ceremonies.
The Forum was dominated by the Temple of Julius and the Temple of Castor and Pollux.
