The steel-framed Empire State Building weighs 303,134 tons.
The Empire State Building in New York is 381 metres high and has 102 stories. On the top is a radio and TV mast. The building took 15 months to complete, and was opened on May 1, 1931. At that time it was the tallest skyscraper in the world. There are 1,860 steps from ground level to the top floor, but there are 73 lifts, too, including an express lift to the observation platform on the 86th floor.
