Which are the world's tallest buildings?
The tallest buildings in the world are the twin Petronas Towers (6, above) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Each of the towers is 452 metres high. Some other very tall buildings are (1) the Eiffel Tower in Paris, at 300 metres; (2) the Chrysler Building, New York, at 319 metres; (3) the John Hancock Centre, Chicago, at 343 metres; (4) the Empire State Building, New York, at 381 metres; and (5) the Sears Tower, Chicago, at 443 metres.
The Sears Tower (5), built in 1974, was the world's tallest building until the Petronas Towers (6) overtook it in 1996.
