Who designed the Statue of Liberty?
The internal framework of the Statue of Liberty was designed by Alexandre Gustave Eiffel, who later designed the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The outer skin, made from sheets of copper, was the work of the French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi. First built in France, it was taken apart and shipped to New York in 1885.
