What is a didgeridoo?
|
| For dance festivals, Aborigines wear ceremonial body paint, as they have done for thousands of years. | A didgeridoo is a long, thick wooden pipe that is played by the Aborigines of Australia. When blown, it plays a deep note; sometimes the player rests it against a hole in the ground to increase the sound. Didgeridoo music is played at Aboriginal sacred festivals called corroborees. Many of the Aborigines' dances at these festivals are based on stories about animal spirits.
