Where is the Great Barrier Reef?
The Great Barrier Reef lies in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Queensland, Australia. It is made of thousands of coral reefs and islands, and stretches over 1,200 miles (2,000 km). The reef forms a barrier between shallow coastal waters and open sea. Since corals belong to the animal kingdom, the Great Barrier Reef is the largest living structure in the world.
