What do penguins eat?
Penguins mainly eat fish and squid. There are 18 different species of these flightless birds, and 6 species live in the Antarctic. The rest are scattered around the coasts of the cold southern seas. The farthest north that penguins live is the Galápagos Islands, just south of the Equator. There are no penguins in the Arctic region.
Rockhopper penguins from the Antarctic coast are easily recognised by their feathery crests.
