Where did the Inca people live?
The empire of the Incas extended for about 2,175 miles (3,500 km) along the Pacific coast and Andes mountains, covering much of modern Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, and Chile. Their capital was Cuzco in southern Peru.
Inca chiefs were carried in litters by their bearers, along roads that were a triumph of engineering. Deep ravines were crossed by suspension bridges made of twisted plant fibres.
