How do amphibians mate?
A female frog sheds her eggs into the water. The male sheds his sperm nearby so that they can join with the female's eggs. The result is frogspawn, which will soon develop into tadpoles. When newts mate the male newt sheds a little package of sperm that the female picks up and places inside her body, near her eggs, in order to fertilise them.
The newt is an amphibian with a long, slender body like that of a lizard.
