Why are rhinos endangered?
Rhinos are endangered because they are illegally killed for their horns. Rhino-horn powder is valued by a small number of people, particularly in China, who mistakenly believe that it has healing properties. Black and white rhinos, both from Africa, are particularly endangered and just a few thousand of each are left in the wild.
White rhinos are killed illegally for their horns, which are sold for a high price to the Far East.
