How is African wildlife protected?
Some of Africa's most familiar animals only survive because they live in protected areas such as national parks. Among the most important are Lake Ichkeul in Tunisia, a haven for wetland birds, and the Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya, which hosts the annual migration of millions of wildebeest. Kalahari Gemsbok National Park in southern Africa protects the gemsbok antelope, and the Okavango Delta is a wilderness for wetland birds and mammals.
