How do fish breathe?

Fish need oxygen just as land animals do, but they get their oxygen from water rather than from air. The oxygen is absorbed out of the water into the fish's delicate, feathery gills. Blood vessels in the gills carry the oxygen to the body organs. | | An Atlantic cod |
