How can you tell a tree's age?
|
Every year a tree grows a new layer of wood beneath the bark. If a tree is cut down, its layers can be seen as rings on the surface of the stump. By counting the rings, you can tell the tree's age. | Each ring in a stump's cross section represents a year's growth. |
