How do dragonflies catch their prey?
Dragonflies are large insects that patrol over ponds and lakes in summer. They catch smaller insects in flight, and their large eyes allow them to spot any likely victim from a distance. Two pairs of powerful wings enable them to fly fast. The insect prey is caught by the dragonfly's legs, and spines on the legs prevent the victim from struggling free. The insect prey is usually eaten while the dragonfly continues flying.
