What are lichens?
|
Lichens are curious plants. They are made up of algal cells, surrounded by a fungus. The algal cells can live alone because algae can make their own food by photosynthesis. The fungus needs the algae for survival, however. Lichens live on stones and trees and grow slowly. | Lichens |
