How can you tell the difference between a crocodile and an alligator?
At first glance, crocodiles and alligators look very similar, but there are differences that tell them apart. When a crocodile closes its mouth, the fourth tooth of the lower jaw sticks up outside the top jaw. When an alligator does the same thing, this tooth is hidden. Also, the head of an alligator is shorter and broader than the head of a crocodile.
