What is a narwhal's tusk used for?
The narwhal belongs to a small group of whales called white whales. All males have a long, spiral tusk. No one is quite sure what narwhals use the tusk for. Rival males may use them as jousting weapons when they compete for females, or they may just be for ornament.
The male narwhal has a tusk over 2.5 metres long.
