Which is the most deadly toadstool?
The most deadly toadstool is the death cap. It is found in beech woods in Europe and also in North America. It certainly lives up to its name, for, if eaten, less than 50 grams can kill a human in six hours. The death cap can be recognised by the olive-yellow colour of the cap and its whitish gills. The base of the stalk grows from a white, bag-like structure.
The deadly death cap can easily be confused with edible types of fungi.
