Which is the largest flower?
The world's largest flower belongs to a plant called Rafflesia arnoldii, which grows in the rain forests of Sumatra. One flower can measure up to 80 cm across and weigh 7 kg. Rafflesia is a parasite of tropical vines; the body of the plant consists of long threads living inside the host vine.
Rafflesia flowers are pollinated by flies, which are attracted by the flowers' smell of rotting flesh.
